Feng Shui, the Dragon and Christianty

Feng Shui has been readily accepted by most people. After all, who doesn’t want more from life? However, there are some people who hesitate to use Feng Shui. Last week, one Mrs. Angelita Braganza from Goa sought Feng Shui help. She seemed a little hesitant in the beginning. "I am approaching you because Feng Shui helped a Goan friend of mine who consulted you last year," she started and went on, "Our religion actually doesn’t allow us to use Feng Shui." I spoke to Mrs. Braganza at length, mentioning several Christian Feng Shui Masters operating in the States and UK. Christians perceive Feng Shui as a mysterious Eastern cult, and thus have built a negative image of it. Thanks to one of them, I could quote the Bible to her. "Improving the living environment should be part of good stewardship of our resources." (Luke 12:42-48) Feng Shui is all about improving the environment. Feng Shui is one of the best disciplines ever developed for improving environments. While the Church accepts its own miracles and mysteries, it frowns on mysteries emanating from the Orient, the East. "Feng Shui can legitimately be used by Christians to improve environments. And we can in good conscience eliminate the wall between Feng Shui and our religion. (Rom. 16:25-27) The Dragon, a useful ally in Feng Shui, is considered an evil figure among the Christians. There are several legends of saints slaying dragons. The Church at Avebury has a carving of conquered dragon on its walls. St. Sampson of Cornwall is said to have destroyed a dragon. St. Serf too is described as having killed a dragon in the 6th century. The dragon was often analogous with the devil in some folk tales.
But is not necessary to have a dragon as a part of Feng Shui. Feng Shui, I have always believed, is all about the harmony between the five elements and one can certainly incorporate Feng Shui without Dragon. I have done this, again and again.
I did not suggest the Greedy Dragon of Ambition to Mrs. Vaz. Plain and simple Feng Shui gave her very good results. The marriage of Mrs. Vaz was on the rocks. Her husband had started becoming violent. She was not the type to take it lying down, but she wanted to save her marriage for the sake of her 4-year-old son. It had to be a dignified rescue, not a humiliating compromise. All the classic Feng Shui taboos were broken when the Vaz’s house was renovated. Several lakhs of rupees were spent on the décor that was to almost ruin their marriage! What I saw in their bedroom reinforced all Feng Shui theories. Later she told me, "The changes have taken place so fast that I cannot believe it. It is as if someone has waved a magic wand! " Mr Vaz got promoted and didn't have to travel so much, something he had never liked. "It is as if there was some kind of negative energy around us and Feng Shui has replaced it with positive energy. He also apologized to me and I have forgiven him. It is as if the person who had hit me was someone else. Now, he is once again the same man that I married. Love has returned, with the bonus of his promotion," she said. I have written about Vaz at length in the past, but I am repeating her story here to say categorically that Feng Shui can be as effective without the Dragon and the Phoenix to attract positive chi and good fortune. It is the same Vaz who advised her Christian friend Angelita Braganza to take Feng Shui consultation from me. Note: The right of privacy is sacred for me. Her husband had got a beautiful musical water fountain placed near their bed. "He likes to sleep with the sound of music and the waterfall," she said. The entire room was done in cool, soft blue that seemed peaceful. One of the walls, on the Southwest, was painted dark blue and even had a wavy texture. My suggestions included neither the Dragon nor the Phoenix motif. I focused only on the harmony of the elements and it worked very well.
